Position/Title: Mechanical Design Engineer –Industrial HVAC/Ventilation

Type: Direct
Location: Detroit, MI
Work Site: Onsite
Citizenship: US, Green Card or Perm Resident

CAD Requirements: Recent/Latest AutoCAD (Autodesk)
Preferred/Preference: Light-Med-Heavy REVIT experience would be ideal

Job Description
This position encompasses the following summary of responsibilities for automotive paint finishing, industrial and commercial sheet metal projects and associated ventilation systems:
  • HVAC design for Industrial / Manufacturing environments
  • Airflow, tempering, load and overall ventilation calculations for proper volume, velocity, pressure, heating, cooling, humidity and filtration requirements
  • Ductwork sizing
  • Stiffener sizing
  • Companion Angle / Frame sizing
  • Hanger selection and sizing
  • Access Door sizing
  • Filter Box sizing
  • Selection and sizing of HVAC purchased equipment components
  • Air handling units
  • Fans
  • Dampers
  • Flex connections
  • Instrumentation
  • Registers, grills and/or diffusers
  • System design for company's other products
  • Water Test Booths
  • Clean Tunnel
  • Generate design and construction drawings in 2D/3D using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
  • Airflow Schematics
  • General Arrangements
  • Cross Sections
  • Construction Details
  • Provide shop layout team with specifications on fabrication details
  • Support field leadership with specifications on installation details
  • Perform engineering reviews with internal and external customers
  • Work with administrative staff to prepare submittals and maintain document control
  • Perform site visits for field checking and installation support
  • Work with outside engineering firms on outsourced design projects
  • Work with the project team and Project Manager on design scheduling to ensure on-time project completion
  • Detailed review and quality control of work performed before submitting completed design/drawings to Project Management
  • Special tasks and duties as assigned by management

Position Requirements, Skills & Experience
  • Experience in Industrial Ventilation and/or Paint Finishing Processes
  • Experienced in AutoCAD (Autodesk Products), MS Office Suite, PDF software
  • Revit Preferred/Plus (Some Experience accepted)
  • Industrial Equipment;HVAC, Ventilation Systems
  • Preference;Industrial Paint Shop/Paint Booth Systems
  • Strong reading/writing skills
  • AS/BSME Degree preferred;Combination of Education and Work Experience Accepted
  • Some travel to job sites both in and out of state required
  • Primary office location is the main office in Detroit
