Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager
Our company is looking for a senior level engineer to join our company. This individual will participate in and lead teams to design a major roadway re-alignment.
The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years minimal experience working as an engineer in a team environment. The project will be located in Southern California.
Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Structural analysis, design, and detailing of transportation and road structures.
- Lead the preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Ability to create and lead the team, monitor project progress, set deadlines, solve issues that arise, manage money, ensure stakeholder satisfaction, and evaluate project performance, including the performance of their team members.
- Prepare/review design calculations and check calculations.
- Coordinates design drawings with fellow engineers and drafting technicians.
- Participate in inspection and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Perform design checks as part of the LEI quality metrics and best practices.
- Help resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design works and detailed checking of design computations done by others.
- Calculates quantity estimates.
- Work closely with other disciplines.
Civil/Structural Engineer/Project Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineering registration in California DESIRED BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
- Previous project management experience required.
- Ability to work on Federal Projects and meet federal requirements to do so. Must be a US citizen.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred.
- Ability to design, lead and manage site preparation, paving and site improvements, provision of the access road, curbs, gutters, guardrails, retaining walls, road striping and signage and other associated work.
- Experienced with Microsoft products.
- Availability and willingness to travel as needed for the project.
- Solid math and analytical skills. Very detailed oriented.
- The ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

- American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, The Green Book, 2018, 7th Edition.
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Manual of Concrete Practice, 2019 Edition.
- American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Seismic Design Manual, 3rd Edition, January 2020
- County of San Diego: Facilities Design Guidelines and Standards
- Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), 11th Edition, 2020
- San Diego County Hydrology Manual (SDHM), June 2000
- CALTRANS roadway design requirements.
- NAVFAC roadway design requirements.
