Sr. Electrical Design Engineer
Costa Mesa, CA 92626 US
Job Description
This role is perfect for a hands-on senior engineer who has personally completed multiple embedded projects from concept through production release and also done sustaining engineering for both the electronics and FW in the systems. The team at AMI is small enough that the Senior Electronics Design Engineer has considerable freedom to establish the company's design philosophy and develop unique and innovative solutions.
The Candidate will:
Have at least 4-year EE degree or equivalent, 5+ years previous experience who has personally completed multiple embedded projects from concept through production release and sustaining doing both the electronics and participated in Firmware development. They can demonstrate previous successfully completed projects where they personally complete circuit design, schematic capture, board layout (4 layer or more) + board stack up and DRC checks, fabrication package generation and full design release with some firmware experience.
A well-qualified candidate will:
Also have 10+ years of experience and completed previous projects that used: C firmware, ARM Cortex microcontrollers (bare metal) targets, Altium Ecad suite for schematic capture and board layout. Designs that incorporate DC (Battery and USB) and AC power supplies, interface to analog and digital subsystems, include HMI interfaces like LCD and membrane keypads, designed and implemented embedded algorithms for sensor measurement and calibration and error reporting, included customer interfaces like 0-5V, 4/20ma, Serial, Modbus. Familiar with certified or notified body review like FM, UL, Medical FAA, or CSA
A candidate with the following additional experience is highly desirable
Also has some of the following: Diode laser drive and associated detector chain experience including TEC PID tuning as used in TDL spectroscopy. Demonstrated Test fixture design and production automation. Validates designs through simulation for tolerance analysis and design capability and then does design of experiment to design tests for qualifications and then executes tests including thermal, and EMI validation. Seamlessly navigates between ongoing production and sustaining support, and new design work. Is exceptionally creative and efficient in problem solving, well-spoken and highly efficient. Works within the constraints of the existing established design system while completing improvement projects to make the system easier and more efficient. C# experience to develop interface tools to the target system for Windows platform. Masters level mathematics to develop and implement sensor measurement algorithms. Hazardous area certification Zone1/Div1 including Exi (Intrinsic Safety) to CSA, IECEX and or ATEX.
